It is our third year fundraising for Voices Against Violence, and we are here for the same reason we have been here before, to raise money for a cause that is personal to us. Domestic violence is an insidious evil that knows no social or economic bounds. It can enter the lives of any one of us. It creeps in when no one is looking and grows stronger and more daring by feeding on the fear and silence of its victims. It often wears a costume of respectability, hides behind a mask of smiles and laughter. It steals from us those we love. Domestic violence took my sister Kim from us in March of 2013. We are here because we want to prevent others from the horror we have faced.
It is long past the time for the silence surrounding this issue to stop. Raise your voice on September 24th with us to say we will not be silent any longer.
